If in an accident while operating your recreational vehicle, remember to take a couple deep breaths and remain as calm as possible. Once settled down, follow the list below.

 

1) Call the proper authorities.

2) Gather the facts. What happened? How many vehicles and people were involved? Write a summary of weather conditions and your surroundings.

3) Exchange info. Get insurance info, people’s addresses and names. Take pictures of the scene.

4a) If in the woods, like an ATV or snowmobile accident, get approval from the proper authority to move the vehicle from the scene.

4b) If on the lake, in the case of a boat or PWC, get approval from the proper authority to move the vehicle from the scene.

5) Call your Insurance Agent to discuss your options.
